Palaweños International Au Pair – Connecting Families, Sharing Cultures, Building Futures

FOR HOST FAMILIES

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Austrian Au Pair program!

This program is more than just a cultural exchange. It is a unique opportunity for both young people and host families to learn, grow, and create lasting memories together. Through the program, au pairs can live with your family for up to a year, immersing themselves in Austrian culture while assisting with childcare and light household tasks. In return, you provide room, board, pocket money, and a supportive environment, giving them the freedom to explore the country and develop new skills.

Hosting an au pair is an enriching experience for everyone involved. For the host family, it means extra hands at home, affordable childcare, and the joy of sharing your daily life with someone from a different culture. For the au pair, it is a chance to experience Austrian life firsthand, practice language skills, and become a part of a loving household.

At Palawan International Au Pair, we are committed to understanding your preferences and needs, ensuring a smooth, dedicated, and supportive process. Our goal is to foster meaningful connections, create strong partnerships, and help both host families and au pairs make the most of their experience in Austria.

With the Austrian Au Pair program, every day becomes an opportunity for cultural exchange, learning, and unforgettable memories, an experience that truly benefits everyone in the family.

Frequently Asked Question

1 . We are looking for an au pair to join our family
– Once you complete the “Welcome to Our Family” application form, we will carefully review your family’s information, lifestyle, and preferences to understand exactly what you are looking for in an au pair. Based on this, we will introduce you to an au pair who we believe is the best match for your household.

We understand that finding the right au pair is an important decision, and sometimes the first candidate may not be the perfect fit. That’s why, if needed, we will continue to provide additional carefully pre-screened candidates until you find the ideal au pair who fits seamlessly with your family’s needs and dynamics. Our goal is to make this process as smooth, supportive, and enjoyable as possible, ensuring a positive experience for both your family and your future au pair.

2. We found an Au Pair on our own
– for the Self-Match service, we first require the contact details of your chosen Au Pair candidate. Please ensure the candidate meets all Au Pair requirements, especially holding an A1 German Certificate. Before confirming our collaboration, we will conduct a screening conversation with the candidate to ensure they understand the Austrian Au Pair program and its rules. If the screening is successful, we will proceed with the next steps.

3. What are the costs?
– We offer fixed costs for Host Families applying directly from the Philippines , regardless of whether you self-matched with an aupair. For more details, please send an inquiry to info@palawanintlaupair.com or submit your completed Application Form. We will then assist you further and provide the cost information.

4.How long does the visa and/or residence permit processing take? In general, the entire process can be completed within *2 months and 25 days* from the day you match with your Au Pair until their departure ,that is why we always recommend to host families to apply as early as 4months before your desired date on having an au pair.

We have streamlined the procedure for Au Pairs from the Philippines, making it faster and easier from preparing the required documents to obtaining the visa.

*Example Process Timeline*
Week 1–2: Matching with the Au Pair and preparation of documents
Week 3–4: Submission of the visa/residence permit application
Week 5–6: Processing and response from the Austrian authorities
Week 7–10: Visa approval and completion of the CFO pre-departure seminar
Week 11: Departure of the Au Pair

5. What is the au pair’s room requirement?
– The host should provide the au pair with a private room (at least 8 sqm) that is properly furnished with a bed and mattress, duvet, pillow, bed sheets, and a dustbin. The room must have at least one window that can be opened and closed, a door for privacy, and be maintained at a comfortable temperature. Essential furnishings, such as a wardrobe, a desk with a chair, lighting, and a desk lamp, must also be provided. Additionally, the room should have access to internet, a toilet and washing facilities, with optional amenities such as a TV and/or radio. The room must not be used as a laundry room, spare room, or storage space.

6. It is our first time to host an Au Pair.
We always ask the Host Families to think about the following:
1.Do you have experience in living with others?
2.If not, how tolerant are you with welcoming/opening/sharing your house to an au pair for a year?

The Au Pair program should benefit the Host Family and the Au Pair. Your family will be introduced to a palette of cultures, languages, and new experiences and vice versa. Having an Au Pair helps balancing family, life, and a career much easier. You would also have given a young adult an opportunity to travel to a whole new world, make new friends, experience different cultures and develop themselves. The host would also have to give up to some extent, privacy at home, and teach a young adult some skills about navigating life in the Austria. It should be a win-win situation for both parties.

7. Does the au pair need to have health care insurance in the Austria?
– Yes, just like everyone who stay beyond 4 months in the Austria, an Au Pair is required to have an Austrian Healthcare insurance. The host family is responsible to help arrange it for them and we will guide as well how to get one for your Au pair
